What happens when mothers gather in a safe space and speak honestly about their experiences? During the first Famora Care Motherhood Wellness Circle, women from different stages of motherhood came together to share stories, tears, strength, and support. It became a powerful reminder that no mother should navigate her journey alone.
Motherhood Wellness Circle: Our First Gathering
When Mothers Come Together, Something Powerful Happens
What happens when mothers gather in a room where they feel safe enough to speak honestly?
On September 13th, 2025, something truly special unfolded during the very first Famora Care Motherhood Wellness Circle. What started as a small gathering quickly became a space filled with courage, vulnerability, and deep connection.
Women sat together in a circle, many meeting for the first time. Some arrived quietly, unsure of what to expect. But as the conversations began, stories started to unfold—stories of hope, waiting, joy, exhaustion, resilience, and sometimes silent struggles that had never been shared before.
By the end of the gathering, strangers had become a community.

Opening the Conversation on Postpartum Depression
The session was guided by psychotraumatologist Jael Nirere, who helped us explore an important yet often overlooked topic: Postpartum Depression.
Together, we discussed questions that many mothers carry silently:
What are the signs of postpartum depression?
How can mothers recognize early warning signs?
What are ways to prevent emotional distress after childbirth?
And how can we support each other before things become overwhelming?
The conversation reminded us that awareness and open dialogue can play a powerful role in protecting maternal mental health.

A Circle of Many Motherhood Journeys
One of the most beautiful aspects of the gathering was the diversity of experiences in the room.
Women came from many stages of the motherhood journey:
Women hoping to become mothers
Women currently pregnant
Mothers who had recently given birth
Mothers reflecting on births that came later than expected, or after years of waiting when they had already begun to emotionally let go of the dream
Each story added a unique perspective to the circle.
As conversations deepened, something powerful happened. Women began to open up in ways that felt raw and honest. Some shared experiences they had never voiced before. Tears appeared, hands reached out for comfort, and hugs followed moments of vulnerability.
In that room, mothers discovered something many had been missing:
the feeling of being truly heard by other women who understood.
During the discussion, we also acknowledged an important reality.
In many communities—including in our Rwandan society—it is not always easy for a mother to say, “I am struggling.”
After childbirth, women are often expected to feel only gratitude and happiness. Yet motherhood can also bring emotional challenges that are rarely acknowledged openly.
But in our circle, we agreed on something fundamental:
A mother’s feelings, struggles, and pain are valid.
Talking about these experiences does not weaken mothers—it empowers them and allows healing to begin.

Breaking the Silence Around Maternal Mental Health
Standing Together as Mothers
By the end of the gathering, the energy in the room had shifted. What began as a discussion had grown into something deeper—a community.
Mothers made a simple but powerful commitment: to support one another along the journey.
Sometimes support may mean offering practical help.
Sometimes it means sharing wisdom from personal experience.
And sometimes, the most meaningful support is simply being present and listening.
The Motherhood Wellness Circle reminded us of a simple truth:
Motherhood was never meant to be walked alone.

A special gathering where young mothers shared their stories, received guidance, and found a supportive community.

What happens when young mothers are given a safe space to share their stories and ask questions without judgment? During our joint event with SAYE Company Dukataze, teen mothers came together with health professionals to learn about safe motherhood, postpartum care, and nutrition—reminding us that every mother deserves knowledge, support, and hope.
Standing Together with Teen Mothers: A Day of Learning, Support, and Hope
Some of the most meaningful conversations begin simply—with listening.
During our first joint event with SAYE Company Dukataze, the Famora Care team had the privilege of spending time with a group of teen mothers, creating a space where they could share their stories, ask questions, and learn together.
It was more than just an event. It was a moment of connection.
Many of these young mothers carry responsibilities that arrived earlier than expected. Yet within the room, there was courage, openness, and a strong desire to build healthier futures for themselves and their children.
We listened to their experiences—the challenges they face, the questions they often hesitate to ask, and the hopes they hold for their babies.
Learning Together with Compassionate Guidance
To support the discussion, we were honored to be joined by midwife Louise Niyorukundo and Fred Mutabaruka, who guided the young mothers through important topics including:
Safe motherhood
Postpartum care
Maternal and child nutrition
With patience and compassion, they answered questions, addressed concerns, and shared practical knowledge that can help mothers care for themselves and their children with confidence.
Their presence created a supportive learning environment where no question felt too small and no concern was dismissed.
A Space Where Young Mothers Felt Heard
What made the gathering truly special was the spirit in the room.
Young mothers spoke honestly, listened to one another, and discovered that many of their fears and experiences were shared by others. In those moments of conversation and learning, a sense of community began to grow.
Moments like these remind us why spaces for dialogue and support are so important—especially for mothers navigating challenges at a young age.
At Famora Care, we believe that every mother—regardless of her age or circumstances—deserves access to trusted information, compassionate support, and a community that stands beside her.
